This page describes exactly what "open box, refurbished" means for a camera sold by Lens Cellar, so you know what to expect before you order.
Where the kits come from
Retail kits whose packaging was opened: customer returns within the return window, display units, cancelled or refused orders. We do not sell cameras that were in regular use for a long period, and we do not sell units with water damage, cracked screens or replaced boards.
What we do before shipping
| Looked over | Lens cover, front and rear screens, battery door, USB-C door, seals and ports examined under a lamp. Units with cracks, deep scratches on the lens cover, or damaged seals are rejected. |

| Wiped down | Body and lens cover cleaned, battery contacts and ports cleared of dust and grit. |
| Reset and updated | Factory reset, then the current GoPro firmware installed. No previous owner's settings or pairings remain. |
| Recorded and played back | A 5.3K clip and a 4K clip recorded, then played back on the camera; audio, HyperSmooth and the touch screens checked. Battery charged and left at roughly 60%. |
| Contents checked | Camera, Enduro battery (1900 mAh), curved adhesive mount, mounting buckle with thumb screw, USB-C cable. Anything missing, frayed or non-original is replaced with a new part. |
What it may look like
- Light cosmetic marks are possible: fine scuffs on the body, faint marks on the mount fingers. They do not affect recording.
- The lens cover and both screens are free of scratches that would show in footage or in use.
- The box is either the original GoPro box or a plain protective box with foam or padding. Printed inserts may be missing.
- No microSD card is included. The sealed retail kit does not include one either.
If a particular unit has anything beyond light cosmetic marks, we tell you on the order before you pay, and you can cancel at no cost.
Warranty
The manufacturer's warranty does not apply to an open-box unit sold by a reseller. Lens Cellar covers the camera for one year from delivery under our own warranty.
